Sendai

Sendai is a city in the northeast of Japan. The city is embraced by mountains and forests. And there is a river runs through it, the river is called Hirose.  So Sendai is a beautiful place,  it gives me the impression it is green.  We were walking here just like walking in the forest.   Meanwhile, Sendai's latitude and the altitude is higher than Tokyo, we feel cool and comfortable here. The trees give off fresh air,  so Sendai was called 'Green Leaf Castle' in Japanese ancient history.

Sendai is small, but it's modern. Especially in the area of Sendai station, there have lots of high buildings and commercial centers. The Sendai station is very busy, and it is full of passengers who come from the Shinkansen and Subway lines. There have bridges in the air, and they connect the station with different buildings and shopping malls. The station is a symbolic architecture of the city.

The other famous architecture is more ancient, it's Sendai castle site. It was the core area of the city in ancient times. The Castle is on the top of the mountain, people stand on the site of the old castle could see modern Sendai city lying near the river. The owner and builder of the castle is an ancient Japanese general. Now, his sculpture is at the top of the mountain, he rides in a horse and watching the modern city just like a king watching his territory.

The typical dish of Sendai is a grilled ox tongue. There have so many restaurants sell grill ox tongue on the street. The grilled ox tongue is divided into different levels due to its quality and sold at different prices. After I try it, I feel it is very delicious. It is crispy outside and moist inside. The food is not greasy, it tastes like beef but more tender and light. People usually would add some salt or pepper with it to make the flavour of the dish tastier.  So the grilled ox tongue is another symbol of Sendai.
